Queen of Angels Hospital

The Queen of Angels Hospital, located somewhere on Vermont Ave. is believed to be the source of strange supernatural activity. The Queen of Angels is a well known filming location in Hollywood and is used frequently in movies and TV shows. It’s not so much the whole building that’s haunted but one of the floors. Possibly the 9th? Maybe, not sure. Security guards in the building have told of periodic motion detector alerts specifically from that floor and chairs spinning in the center of the floor without stopping.

There is also a small rumor that the 1995 film, The Prophecy, was filmed in this hospital. During shooting, Christopher Walken was said to have visited the “Haunted floor” and purportedly had an encounter with the spirit in question. (If anyone can corroborate this rumor it would be greatly appreciated as just by looking at the ‘filming locations’ in IMDB.com for this film I don’t see this hospital listed.)

Other reports tell of feeling “chills” in a certain spot on the floor, and of finding out later that the same spot was where the spinning chair made it’s debut. The ghost’s haunting days may be over though, it turns out that the Hospital was bought by a church group and the holy men had the floor exorcised.

The Queen Mary Hauntings

The Queen Mary was commissioned in 1936. She has had many duties ranging from luxury ocean liner to troop transport, there is no question that she’s haunted, the question lies in how many people actually haunt this ship.

There are reports of banging noises, beautiful women dressed in white, ghastly screams from the kitchen, ghosts of drowned passengers, Italian prisoners of war, children in the nursery, and dead seamen roaming the passageways. There are probably even more than that judging from the countless number of passengers she had.

It is said that the ghost in the kitchen was actually a cook whose cooking was so bad that disgruntled troops revolted and stuffed him in the oven. All the while listening to his terror-laden screams of pain.

The Pantages Theater Haunting

Pantages Theater

Bought in 1949 by Howard Hughes and then later sold in the 1950’s, the Pantages Theater stands as one of Hollywood’s last landmark theaters. In 1967 the Pantages Theater was bought by Pacific Theaters and then, with the help of the Nederlander Corporation initiated renovations.

Since that time there have been reports of feeling cold gusts of wind from out of no where, banging sounds emanating from empty offices and the scent of cigarettes. One witness claims to have seen Hughes’ ghost twice, described as a tall man, she always spotted Hughes rounding a corner towards the former entrance of his old office.

Another ghost spotted at the Pantages is that of a former patron who died there in 1932. Rumored to be an aspiring singer, her apparition can be heard singing in the theater at night when the lights are out and no one but the employees are around. Recently her voice was caught on a loudspeaker during a live performance.

One of the female employees in the wardrobe department claims that one night, while heading towards one of the theater’s side doors, the emergency lights suddenly went out. Leaving her in total darkness. Pressing on, she ran into something and then felt a hand grab hers. The hand led her to one of the side doors and outside the building, upon turning around to thank whoever it was, she saw that nobody was there.
