El Fandango RestaurantHaunted by the spirit of a woman in white seen near the door as well as other places in the restaurant, she is believed to have been Senora Maria Antonia Machado de Silva. Her spirit has been seen rushing towards the flagpole in the center of the Old Town square on many occasions.

During the Yankee invasion of California which was then Mexican territory, Senora Machado de Silva was believed to have taken down the Mexican flag to protect it from the grubbing gringo hands. At the time of the invasion the flag rested on the same flagpole in the center of Old Town.

Believed to be based on a true story involving a white woman, a native american man and a doomed love affair. Ever since it was first published in 1884 it has been visited by countless numbers of Ramona fans from around the globe.

Casa De Estudillo is constantly haunted by strange voices, flashes of light coming from nowhere, and the appearance of shadowy figures. Possibly the spirit of Jose Antonio Estudillo, the patriarch of the Casa. Then again, possibly not.

Villa Montezuma Haunting

Built in 1887 by Jesse Shepard, a famous opera singer, Shepard was known to hold seances in a special room at the center of his house. His peculiar hobby got him a one-way ticket to Europe but, it is believed that his presence can be felt in his old seance room.

Robinson-Rose House Haunting

Point Loma Lighthouse Haunting

Believed to be the haunting grounds of Portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, this lighthouse has been the source of unidentifiable footsteps and moaning sounds.

In 1542, Cabrillo claimed this area for Spain but in 1891 it had to be deserted because the heavy cloud cover constantly blocked the view of the lighthouse.

The Hotel Del Coronado

Famous for being the setting for the Marilyn Monroe film, Some Like it Hot, room 3502 of the Hotel Del is the source of some extreme haunting activity.

The spirit is believed to be Kate Morgan, a woman murdered by her cheating husband. She can be spotted wandering the hotel wearing a black dress. This room is so freaky that the hotel doesn’t let anyone use it unless all the other rooms in the hotel are filled. Once it was even sealed off because there was so much poltergiest activity going on in there.

The Haunted Whaley House

Whaley House

Known to be one of the most haunted houses in the world, The Whaley House plays host to a number of wayward spirits. The first is that of Mr. Thomas Whaley himself. Horribly wronged when his house was ransacked by the citizens of the city over a disagreement, up to his death he has never been reimbursed for all the property damaged and stolen. His spirit, as well as his wife’s and children’s, can be seen climbing the stairs and walking the hallways.

The ghost of Annabelle Washburn one of the neighborhood children, can be spotted in the kitchen.

The unidentified ghost of a woman in the courtroom and a man at the top of the stairs can also been seen.

Another ghost, a man named Yankee Jim who was hanged on the grounds for stealing a boat, is known to traverse the grounds. During his hanging the rope failed to break his neck so he was allowed to dangle there until it strangled him.
