Named in honor of former Yorba Linda resident Richard Nixon, the Nixon Library is also a museum housing many artifacts from his life. One group of such artifacts known to most as the Watergate tapes are kept in their own special room and played during business hours.

Late in the night when the only people in the area are the security guards strange things begin to happen in the library.

Peculiar tapping noises can be heard echoing from the Watergate room as well as the continuous playing of the Watergate tapes themselves. Constantly malfunctioning, the tapes appear to be controlled by some unknown outside force.

Every even numbered year, on June 15th the ghost of a lady in pink can be spotted crying near an unidentified grave. Possibly the daughter of Bernardo Yorba, Alvina de Los Reyes, she died abruptly in a carriage collision and was buried in this gated cemetery.

Formerly the sight of a little boy’s murder, it is now haunted by the spirit of the boy as well as his tormented mother who went insane upon discovering his body. Once a barn in the 1920’s, now two separate houses lie on the property. Residents of both houses report hearing the footsteps of a child as well as being able to see him occasionally. His mother can also be seen running around searching for him.

Built in 1794, it is now one of San Juan Capistrano’s touring attractions. Witnesses claim that they have heard eerie chanting voices and to have seen glowing balls of light floating about in this two room adobe.

This 200 year old house lies on or near the same street as the White Lady of Los Rios Street. This house, which is still owned by the Rios family, is reported to harbor the ghosts of visitors from it’s past. One such visitor might possibly be the ghost of the famous Mexican bandito Joaquin Murietta, a friend of the late Gregario Rios. Murietta would usually hide in the Rios’ attic to evade the lawmen searching for him.

The apparition of a black-haired woman in a white dress haunts this seemingly harmless street in the seemingly harmless city of San Juan Capistrano. For 90 years sightings of this spirit have been reported, she appears from a big cloud of white fog that comes from nowhere and terrorizes the neighborhood.

Sometimes she’s got a black demon dog, and other times she doesn’t. Sometimes the white lady can be seen walking the hallways of people’s homes with her black dog. Most of the time she appears in front of a large pepper tree that lies somewhere along the street. In 1978, a house on this street was the source of some major violent poltergeist activity. Whether this is connected to the white lady isn’t really known, but it’s a good bet.

Known to be the haunting grounds of “The Blue Lady” a woman believed to have died in 1920. Not much information is available on her but there are reports sighting her in Black Star Canyon as well. An interesting thing to note is that the first person to have seen her was a gravedigger named Cleofas Romero who, in 80 years up until his death, has never wavered from his original account of his encounter.

The spectral inhabitant located in Black Star Canyon is dubbed “The Blue Lady” by the few individuals who have been able to catch a glimpse. Though she has been reported as having been seen in Black Star Canyon the primary information on her stems from sightings at the El Toro Memorial Park.

The first is a man named J. G. Chandler. Though the picture would seem harmless enough just hanging on the wall, some people claimed to have actually seen Mr. Chandler’s face cracking a smile. Pretty unusual since the portrait’s expression carries a more serious tone.

The second portrait, depicting a man who still has not been properly identified, carries a darker air to it. Just like the Chandler portrait this too occasionally deviates from it’s original form in that the figure can sometimes be seen bleeding at the throat! If one looks at the unknown man’s portrait closer one can see blood dripping from the collar.

The third apparition was the former owner of the house, named Mrs. Agnes Ware Stanley, as time passed by for Agnes it became more difficult for her to climb the stairs of the house. Well it turns out that when someone climbs the stairs they are somewhat slowed down by a strange force.

The fourth spirit is that of a baby crying in the second floor nursery. It has been discovered that the daughter of one of the past caretakers died in that room.

Update/ 5SEP98:I just dropped by the area and found that it’s also called the Garden Grove Historical Society, they give out tours every third Sunday of the month at 1:30pm. Every other day it seems pretty empty. Another thing, if you go down there, don’t expect to find an actual grassy park. All I saw was pavement.

Haunted by none other than the queen of blonde bombshells, Marylin Monroe. Her spirit can’t actually be seen in humanoid form, she only appears as a luminescent cloud above her tomb.
